About Counselling

Why see a counsellor?
Relatives and friends, however much they are willing to help, can be amateurs in listening. They can be too deeply involved with you, or too busy to be at your disposal often enough.
In counselling, one can talk about private, upsetting, difficult and risky things in the safety of a supportive and regular professional relationship.
For many clients, the most helpful thing is not the special techniques or the knowledge of the counsellor but his or her ability to enter into a deep personal contact and engagement with them
.
Person-Centred counselling is an effective way to foster such an engagement. It offers focused and genuine attention, deep understanding and warm acceptance of you as a unique person.
It is a good way for achieving long lasting changes in life.

What Benefits can be Expected?
You can get in touch with your hidden capacity to change and grow out of your difficulties, in your own time and in your own way.
You may discover that you have more choices in life than you thought you had.
You can become aware of who you really are, behind your social roles and masks.
As a result, you can develop deeper self-trust, feeling of self-value and independence, and build rewarding relationships with others
.
However it is imortant to remember that counselling is a journey together and involves the client's own commitment to the process.
